Thank you for your interest in our Family Practice Residency Program.
The Family Medicine residency at Munson Medical Center is an unopposed, dually accredited residency located in Traverse City, Michigan. The curriculum focuses on preparing residents for rural family practice opportunities.
I think you will find the answers to your questions in the following criteria for Academic Year 2010 – 2011:
- Applicant must be a Permanent US Citizen or have Permanent Resident status (Green Card). We do not sponsor or support any VISAs.
- A four-year undergraduate degree before entering Medical School is required.
- You must have completed at least one year of structured clinical “clerkship” training, which included hands-on patient care, in hospitals in the United States.
- We are looking for recent medical school graduates. You must have graduated from Medical School within two years of the time the Residency begins.
- You must have passed both Step I and II (both parts) by the time the Residency begins. The amount of attempts to pass will be taken in to consideration; please make sure you document them on your application.
- Candidate must meet State of Michigan licensing requirements prior to starting residency. Recent Foreign Medical graduates must obtain ECFMG certificates in time to be licensed.
Application Procedure
Both Allopathic and Osteopathic candidates must participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applications will be reviewed after September 1 and candidates will be contacted and scheduled for interviews starting in October and continuing through mid-January.
Thank you and have a good day!
