End-of-Life Care
The End-of-Life Longitudinal Curriculum offers several learning
opportunities for residents throughout the three years of the
residency. These include a variety of didactic sessions that will
teach skills necessary for the family physician to provide excellent
EOL care for their patients. A one month elective hospice and
palliative care rotation is available in year 2 or 3.
Ethics
The ethics curriculum fosters the development of the knowledge,
skills, and attitudes that family practice residents will need
in order to facilitate sound, ethical decisions and discussions
with their patients/families, colleagues, and as a member of society.
One of the over arching goals of the ethics curriculum
is to facilitate learning experiences for the family practice
residents which will enhance their skills and understanding of
a variety of key ethical values and issues which family physicians
commonly encounter in practice, with a special emphasis on developing
critical thinking and reflective skills, as well as excellent
communication skills.
