Adjacent to Mercy Hospital Grayling, Mercy Manor is a 40-bed, long-term care facility providing skilled and basic care to patients who require extended hospitalization. Mercy Manor is licensed by the State of Michigan and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. For all state and federal regulations, the unit meets or exceeds every requirement. Mercy Manor is equipped for both skilled and basic care patients. The nursing staff of the facility strives for an atmosphere of family unity, and togetherness and involvement are encouraged behavior. The Manor offers programs that encourage socialization and mental awareness in an effort to enhance the patient’s feeling of personal worth. Overall, a sense of dignity and value of the patient prevails. The physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wholeness of each individual is paramount.

The nursing staff is the backbone of Mercy Manor. Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nurses aides provide most of the direct patient care. Additional staff members include a dietitian, who is responsible for the nutritional needs of the patients, a dentist who does yearly examinations, a respiratory therapist, speech therapist, and a physical therapist. Mercy Manor’s medical director is available if the patient’s own physician cannot be reached.

Diversion Therapy plays a large role in the rehabilitation process. Patients get involved in hobbies and crafts designed to enhance eye and hand coordination. The therapy is under the direction of a trained diversional therapist. Parties and holiday celebrations also play a key role in the activities of patients. Family and friends are encouraged to attend these functions. Each week, a beautician visits Mercy Manor, and we maintain a bright, cheerful atmosphere among other opportunities for quality of life.

Spiritual and emotional needs are also addressed. Patients’ ministers are encouraged to be part of their life and care at Mercy Manor, and can visit at any time. When able, residents are encouraged to attend services and special events at their home churches. Interdenominational religious services are also held weekly in Mercy Manor, and Mass is held monthly. Eucharistic Ministers provide communion to Catholic residents on a daily basis. Mercy Hospital’s chaplain is available to meet with residents and offer services for special religious events.

A patient’s right to privacy is respected and is formally addressed in the "Patient Bill of Rights" brochure received upon admission.
