Arthritis Care: Relief and Mobility
Nearly one of every five adults suffers from arthritis, an inflammation of a joint that causes pain, loss of movement, and sometimes swelling. More than 100 different diseases are classified as arthritis that can be treated by Orthopedic specialists. Pain and disability that accompany arthritis can be decreased through early diagnosis and appropriate management, including self-management activities such as weight control and physical activity. Arthritis is one of the most common conditions leading to joint replacement.
Specialty Care: Providing Expertise
Mercy Hospital Cadillac now offers a specialist with expertise in back and spinal surgery, including spinal fusion. This specialist manages treatment of neck/back injuries, fracture repair, disc injuries, and scoliosis screening.
Sports Medicine: Tackling Your Injuries
Active lifestyles and the pursuit of fitness for all ages can sometimes lead to sports injuries, which may develop over time or appear suddenly without warning. Sports Medicine specialists at Mercy Hospital Cadillac are experts in treating overuse injuries in teens, adults, and senior citizens. Early diagnosis, the latest treatments, and comprehensive rehabilitation allow patients to recover quickly and resume the activities they enjoy.
Arthroscopic Surgery: Faster Recovery Arthroscopic procedures are used to diagnose and treat many problems, including torn ligaments, bone or cartilage fragments, and damaged joint surfaces. During the procedure, an Orthopedic surgeon, guided by a tiny camera, inserts surgical instruments through small incisions to remove or repair damaged tissues. Your family physician can refer you to an Orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation to determine if you could benefit from arthroscopy.

Joint Camp: Getting You Ready
Patients scheduled for total joint replacement are enrolled in Joint Camp, a pre-operative education and post-operative therapy program that prepares patients for surgery with a physical strengthening program, and gives them an overall understanding of what to expect before, during, and after surgery. The multi-disciplinary program includes daily bedside and group physical therapy, plus personal coaching from family or friends. Joint Camp equips patients with the ability and knowledge to more quickly return to normal activities after surgery.
Rehabilitation Services: Back on Your Feet
Mercy Hospital Cadillac’s new Rehabilitation Services building next to the hospital provides a spacious and convenient setting for therapy to help relieve symptoms of Orthopedic disorders and promote recovery. The new facility includes an aqua therapy pool, special areas for children to engage in play therapy, and a full range of rehab equipment for all ages. A referral from a primary care physician or Orthopedic surgeon is required to access these services.
