Some people with hearing loss may benefit from using
hearing aids, which are small devices worn in the ear. Hearing
aids are custom made for each individual from an impression or
cast of the ear. Nearly everyone should wear hearing aids in both
ears because research has proven that hearing in both ears optimizes
reception of verbal communication as well as localization. Numerous
companies manufacture hearing aids. Each manufacturer has a variety
of models.
At the time of your hearing aid evaluation, your
Audiologist will guide you through many options and will help
you determine the type of technology or circuitry and size most
appropriate for you.

Traditional Analog Hearing Aids
Traditional hearing aids have been available for numerous years.
Many have the ability to compress loud sounds so that they do
not become uncomfortably loud. They amplify soft and average levels
of sounds so that you can hear speech better. These hearing aids
typically have a manual volume control adjustment.
Digital Hearing Aids
These hearing aids have the most flexibility and advanced technology
with automatic adjustment of sound and loudness. Microchips process
sound more than one million times per second to automatically
maximize your ability to hear. Some have directional microphones,
which have been shown to be effective in reducing background noise.
Clinic Policies
Trial Period
