Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breasts and aid in the diagnosis of breast diseases in women. A mammography exam is called a mammogram. Compression is used during a mammogram to provide the best view of the tissue inside the breast with the least amount of radiation possible.
