Health Education Institute
The Health Education Institute (HEI) is a collaborative partnership between Munson Healthcare and Northwestern Michigan College. Classes offered by HEI are:
Labyrinth
Walks Munson Healthcares labyrinth is a 36-foot
wide circular pattern walked by people as a means of achieving
peace, healing, and awareness. Begun in 1999, the Labyrinth Project
helps participants discover the simple gifts of slowing down and
quiet space, while teaching perspective and fulfillment amidst

Massage Therapeutic massage can help with a wide range of medical
conditions by promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Massage increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles,
improves range of motion, and increases endorphins, the bodys

Health Education Institute Classes
Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques— A Workshop
Managing stress is a part of a healthy lifestyle. And who isn't stressed! Explore a variety of strategies and skills that can control the long-term effects of stress on the body, mind, and spirit. Practice various techniques to reduce stress and promote relaxation such as breath work, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, the relaxation response, and guided imagery. You'll leave with tools and resources you can use everyday that can improve your health and sense of well being. Cost is $25. Preregistration is required.

Tai Chi for Arthritis
This specially designed program is based on sun style Tai Chi that is easy to learn, safe, effective, and suitable for any fitness level. You will learn a variety of gentle movements with warm ups, cool downs, and Qigong exercises that can relieve pain and improve circulation, concentration, balance, strength, and posture. Wear comfortable clothing. Cost is $49. Preregistration is required.
