Medical Centers Oncology Pharmacy works closely with other
health care professionals in a team effort to assure cancer patients
receive efficient, quality care. The pharmacy maintains detailed
records of each patient, current and past, to ensure patients
are receiving the appropriate therapies and treatments.
The oncology pharmacist is involved in staff, patient,
and family education, and provides assistance with medications
given in the home. The Pharmacist also participates in weekly
patient rounds, assists in their pain and symptom management,
and regularly follows patients who have antibiotic dosing.
An oncology pharmacist is available as an information
resource for drugs or oncology products (existing, new, or upcoming),
and has textbooks, literature references, and computer information
readily available.
