Mercy Diabetes Education Program Hosts Diabetes Health Fair
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, a hormone needed to convert sugars, starches, and other food into energy needed for life. Often diabetes goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless.
To help offer more information on diabetes, the Mercy Diabetes Education Program will host a Diabetes Health Fair from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3 in the McAuley Center, located across the street from Mercy Hospital.
Several health care professionals will be on hand to provide the latest information on massage for relaxation, diabetes medication, exercise, insulin pumps, the newest meters available and much more. Blood pressure and blood sugar screenings will also be offered.
Come and enjoy! There will be door prizes and all offerings are free to the community. There is no pre-registration. For more information about the Diabetes Health Fair, please call Mercy's Diabetes Education Program at 876-7183 or 876-7028.
